The National Testing Agency (NTA) has released the official JEE Main 2026 Information Bulletin. Joint Entrance Examination (Main) is conducted for admission to B.E./B.Tech, B.Arch, and B.Planning courses in NITs, IIITs, CFTIs, and other participating institutions across India.

National Testing Agency (NTA)

The National Testing Agency (NTA) is an autonomous organization established by the Government of India to conduct entrance examinations in a transparent, efficient, and standardized manner. NTA is responsible for organizing major national-level exams such as JEE Main, NEET (UG), CUET, and others. Its objective is to ensure fairness, accuracy, and quality in the assessment process while reducing the burden on students through a technology-driven examination system.

JEE Main 2026 is a national-level entrance examination conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) for admission to B.E./B.Tech, B.Arch, and B.Planning courses in NITs, IIITs, CFTIs, and other participating institutions. The examination is held in two sessions (Session-I and Session-II), allowing candidates to improve their scores. JEE Main also serves as the qualifying test for JEE Advanced 2026.

JEE Main 2026 Important Dates

The JEE Main 2026 examination will be conducted in two sessions. Session I is scheduled in January 2026, while Session II will be held in April 2026. The application process for Session I starts in October 2025. Admit cards are released a few days before the examination, and results are declared separately for each session.

JEE Main 2026 Application Fee

Candidates who have passed Class 12 or equivalent in 2024 or 2025, or are appearing in 2026, are eligible for JEE Main 2026. There is no age limit for appearing in the exam. Candidates must satisfy the qualifying examination criteria set by NTA and any additional eligibility requirements of the institutes they wish to join.

MODE OF EXAMINATION

JEE Main 2026 is conducted mainly in Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode. Paper 1 (B.E./B.Tech) and Paper 2B (B.Planning) are completely online. Paper 2A (B.Arch) is partially offline, with Mathematics and Aptitude sections in CBT mode and the Drawing Test conducted on paper. This ensures a standardized, fair, and efficient assessment
for all candidates.

JEE Main 2026 question papers are available in 13 languages including English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu. Candidates must choose their language carefully while filling the application form.

Paper 1 consists of Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry with MCQs and numerical questions, totaling 75 questions for 300 marks. Each correct answer carries +4 marks, wrong answers -1, and duration is 3 hours.

Exam Pattern – Paper 2A (B.Arch)

B.Arch Paper 2A consists of Mathematics (25 questions, 100 marks), Aptitude Test (50 questions, 200 marks), and Drawing Test (2 questions, 100 marks). Mathematics and Aptitude are CBT, while Drawing is offline on
A4 sheets. Total marks: 400.

Exam Pattern – Paper 2B (B.Planning)

Paper 2B for B.Planning includes Mathematics, Aptitude, and Planning-based questions. It consists of 100
questions totaling 400 marks. The exam is computer-based, with negative marking for wrong answers. Merit
is based on NTA scores.

Reservation Criteria
Reservation is provided for candidates belonging to various categories such as Economically Weaker Section, Other Backward Classes, Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and persons with disabilities. It ensures equitable access to educational opportunities while promoting inclusivity and social justice in admissions.
